Byzantine Weights, Circa 5th-7th centuries. Weight of 4 Nomismata (Orichalcum, 28 mm, 17.38 g), a discoid coin weight with centering holes, raised rims and double-grooved edge. N - Δ with cross above; rosettes above and below N; all within two concenctric circular borders; central hole surrounded by two concentric circles. Rev. Plain except for centering hole within four concentric circles and two concentric circles within the outer rim. Bendall -. MAH 246. Pera 561. A lovely piece with an attractive green patina. Good very fine.
